Used Tire Thieves Admit Multiple Thefts, Police Say

Weekly incident reports from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

The following information was reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Two men arrested for stealing $500 worth of tires from a business in Brennan Plaza in High Ridge, told a sheriff's deputy they "routinely" steal used tires from tire shops around the area, according to a sheriff's department incident report.

The men reportedly stole the tires from a used tire rack on Dec. 18 at the Brennan Plaza business. An employee witnessed the theft and recorded the suspects' license plate number, but didn't contact police.

After the employee notified his manager about the theft the next day, the incident was reported to police.

Police located the suspects, who admitted to stealing the tires, and told a deputy they "routinely" remove used tires from multiple tire shops, saying the shop owners would give them the tires. The men were arrested and released pending application of warrants.
