The following information was reported by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Cove Drive, Fenton
A man told a sheriff's deputy he was eating dinner Dec. 5 at a home on Cove Dr., Fenton, when there was a knock on the door. He went to answer the door and another man, wielding a machete, forced his way inside, according to a deputy's report. The first man made his escape from the home without being injured and called 911. A woman who was inside the home told a deputy the intruder demanded information from her as to who had stolen his money and drugs. When she failed to answer, the intruder dragged her out of the home, threatening to kill her, and at one point held the tip of the machete to her side as he steered her through the neighborhood looking for someone. A friend of the woman drove by and, when the friend stopped to talk and got out of her vehicle, the man dropped the machete. By that time, sheriff's deputies were arriving and located the man a short distance from the home and arrested him. The machete was recovered nearby and seized as evidence.
Williams Creek Road, High Ridge
A woman discovered a pillowcase was missing Dec. 4 from the bed in her home on Williams Creek Road in High Ridge and, although she didn't think anything of it at the time, later discovered a diamond earring, pearl earrings and a bracelet missing from her dresser, according to a sheriff's deputy's report. The jewelry was valued at $900. She also discovered a screen was missing from an unsecured second story window. A deputy located a bent window screen and a ladder laying next to the home that apparently was used to enter the house.
