Lindbergh 'Spirit ' Band Comes Up Roses on 1-1-11
The Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band has its big moment in the Pasadena sun on New Year's Day.
It was officially Entry #72 in the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Calif. on New Year's Day, but for many in St. Louis, the Lindbergh High School Spirit of St. Louis Marching Band was the top attraction.
The band followed the St. Louis float led by the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales.
Band parent Joan Spink reported that the Lindbergh contingent congregated at the halfway point of the 5.5-mile parade route.
Band Director Robert Spiegelman walked the route ahead of the band on a sunny but chilly day. Spiegelman and the band had been preparing for months for the parade appearance, which culminated a week-long series of activities. Below are a few scenes from the parade, courtesy of the band's website www.Spiritstlband.org
