High Ridge Man Tries to Sell Live WWII Hand Grenade
Police say the owner of the piece of World War II memorabilia didn't realize the grenade posed a threat.
Kirkwood Police Department received an odd surprise when a man turned up with a military issue hand grenade last week.
According to police, a man from High Ridge arrived at the Kirkwood Police Department with the grenade from World War II last Wednesday night.
He was referred to department after trying to sell the grenade as a relic not knowing it was live.
Although the grenade was inert it still contained enough charge to cause a small explosion and injure someone in close proximity, according to police.
St. Louis County Police Department Bomb and Arson responded and took possession of the grenade for disposal.
