Guns 'N Hoses: Fenton Firefighter to Compte in Annual Boxing Event

Tickets are on sale for the annual Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses boxing matches amongst area firefighters and police officers at Scottrade Center Nov. 21. Proceeds benefit The Backstoppers, a nonprofit that helps responders' families.

Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses features three-round boxing matches between local police officers and firefighters to raise money for The BackStoppers, Inc., an organization that provides immediate financial aid and long-term financial and other support to the families of emergency responders who lose their lives in the line of duty.

This annual fundraiser is held in the Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis on Thanksgiving Eve, which this year will be Nov. 21. Tickets are $20 and $30 each. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Fenton firefighter Dan Oldenwald, is competing in the event with a bout against  Daniel Book of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

To secure tickets, contact Eureka Fire Protection District Chief Greg Brown at (636) 938-5505.

Brown said D'Angelo and Stocker have been training since September, working out three to four times each week. "They, and five others who will be competing, have been training in Eureka at the USA Martial Arts Academy."

Organizers state Grey Eagle Distributors and Budweiser have been title sponsors of Guns ‘N Hoses since the event began in 1987. The first event only raised a few thousand dollars but from that low-key start, Budweiser Guns ‘N Hoses has grown into one of the premier fundraisers in the St. Louis area, drawing near-capacity crowds while raising more than $3.2 million for The BackStoppers.
